Julia studied fine art at Dartington College of Arts, Devon at The Bristol School of Art. She gained a PGCE from Exeter University and is a qualified art teacher with over 20 years of experience in Art Education.
In 2007 she decided to leave the class-room to lead a more creative life and develop her skills as a practising artist. Combining a love of art and travel, for a few weeks each year, Julia became part of Adventure Cruising teaching watercolour classes on board two small cruise ships; ‘The Spirit of Adventure’ and ‘The Quest for Adventure’ visiting exciting places such as Monet’s Garden in France, The Borobudur Temple in central Java and The Mayan sites of South America. Every summer she spends time as an artist in residence at the Verrocchio Art Centre, Tuscany where she is developing her interest in light and colour. Her life drawings have been sold through galleries in the South West of England, London and nationally at the Affordable Art Fairs. In 2013, Julia became an ‘Artist Network Member’ of the Royal West of England Academy.
