I have made pottery for over 30 years, exploring different clays, forms and ways of firing. I love
sculptural vessels and have given them an earthy minimal glaze with texture and added interest.
My pebbles are little sculptures in themselves but also look good in groups as they stand at odd angles to complement each other. They are also good stress relief objects, forms which are tactile to hold and smooth to touch. They have been burnished and smoked in leaves, paper and sawdust.
The small geometric porcelain bowls are ornamental as they are not fully glazed but can also be used.
Raku is a fun way of working with fellow potters. The quick maturing gazes mean that it is possible to garden gas fire several times a day. Once again these are ornamental but also every day items to use.
Although I was born and bred in Portishead, I now live on the edge of the Cotswolds near Wotton-Under-Edge.
